The Town of Westville offers numerous recreational facilities for all ages. In addition to the playgrounds and walking trails/track in the Acadia and Victoria Parks, there are two Baseball Fields (Pioneer and Victoria), the Westville Miner’s Sports Centre, the Curling Club, the Recreation Building, basketball and tennis courts.
Westville is host to the largest Canada Day celebration in Atlantic Canada. Events span over five days and provide all the fun of a country fair plus a giant street parade with guest bands from around the world.

Jimmy Hawboldt/Fred Lays Sr. Memorial Road Race

Labour Day 2009

A Labour Day weekend would not be complete without a visit to Westville to participate in the Jimmy Hawboldt/Fred Lays, Sr. Memorial Road Race!

Runners and spectators are encouraged to attend this annual event held on Labour Day! Last year over 150 people were in attendance and each year the numbers grow. Runners of all ages from the local area and beyond participate. The event boosts a 1-mile, 5-mile and children’s races complete with prizes, medals and refreshments.

The annual event is held in Westville to pay tribute to the late Jimmy Hawboldt and Fred Lays, Sr. for their athletic accomplishments and contributions to the sport of running. Family support is evident not only by the runners, but by the tremendous support from the Lays and Hawboldt families in running the race. A great family event!

Sundays in Acadia Park

Join us every Sunday evening in the Park as talented local musicians take the stage and preform a wide variety music for everyone.  The fun begins Sunday evenings at 6:30 in Acadia Park.  If you or someone you know is a local musician who would like to be booked for Sundays in Acadia Park please contact the Town of Westville's recreation department.

Westville Academy of Boxing and Fitness Centre

The Westville Academy of Boxing and Fitness Centre is a newly formed (Feb.,2005) “not-for-profit” organization and is registered with Nova Scotia Joint Stocks as a Society. All executive and coaching positions are provided on a volunteer basis.
The Club is located in the old Westville Youth Centre at 2012 South Main Street, Westville. The Westville Academy of Boxing
and Fitness Centre is different than the average amateur boxing club in the province as we not only provide the training needed to be competitive amateur boxers but we also provide a recreational boxing fitness program for those who do not wish to compete, while promoting recreation, fitness and fairplay to the youth of Westville and the surrounding area. It also focuses
on respect, dedication, and self discipline.

Victoria Park

Victoria Park offer's a track facility, Tennis Courts, Basketball facilities, and of course the Westville Miner's Memorial Rink.
